A high-energy cycle of accumulation and explosive communal release

Scatter is a high-energy installation built around a repeating cycle of accumulation and release. Participants begin by loading brightly coloured balls into pneumatic tubes, where they are rapidly carried overhead through transparent pipes. Watching the balls race away on currents of air is an experience in itself - both visually engaging and physically satisfying.

At the centre of the space sits a large red button, inviting participants to trigger the second phase of the installation. When pressed, the atmosphere shifts instantly: sirens sound, lights pulse red, and anticipation builds. At the peak of the sequence, an iris mechanism opens and releases the stored balls in a dramatic cascade, sending them pouring back into the room in a sudden and chaotic downpour. The piece is structured around these two contrasting moments: the first is quiet and methodical; the second is explosive and communal.

Applications & Versatility

A massive draw for family attractions and experiential marketing events. It creates a “timed spectacle” that naturally gathers crowds, making it an effective tool for managing visitor flow or creating a repeatable “highlight moment” that encourages spontaneous collaboration among strangers.
